JOIN US: September Streetside Salon

This might sound vain to some, but a good haircut can give a person hope.

Haircut Man

Hope to nail that job interview. Hope for a new start. Hope that things can get better. More than anything though, a good haircut can give people hope because it is a reminder that they are seen and loved. That they are worthy.

We believe that every human has dignity. Every human is worthy of honor and respect simply because they are created in the image of God. And it is important for us to create space for others and for ourselves to remember that… that we are created in the image of God, and so are our friends, and so are the people who think differently than us or live differently than us.

One of the ways we try to remind our friends on the street of their innate dignity is through our Streetside Salon. This idea came from asking our friends…
“What would you like? What is something you need?”

Haircut Lady

There are other resources available to many of our friends, but getting a good haircut was not one of them. And that’s one of the things they wanted… a good haircut. So, Streetside Salon was born (November 8, 2014 to be exact). We have had many more since then and it has been a space of hope, friendship, and a reminder of our innate dignity as humans.

We are having another Streetside Salon Saturday, September 14 from 9-11 a.m. It will be a day of good food, friends, and volunteer hairdressers setting up shop on the streets of South Dallas, using their gifts to help our friends remember they are beautiful.

We’d love for you to come! We are always in need of volunteers and just people who want to be a friend. Join us Saturday, September 14th from 9-11 a.m. for a day of tasty food, community, hope, and good haircuts for our friends. All are welcome!
