It's SOCKTOBER, y'all!
Socktober was a success! We had hundreds of homeless men and women come through for hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, and then the best part . . . Texas Instruments (TI) came with 800 pairs of socks, 150 blankets, and hundreds of toiletries kits.
Over 40 TI employees where there on the Corner with us, grilling out for over two hours. Talk about selflessness! It was hot back by the grill, and they stayed while the continual traffic moved through.
It was amazing to see the TI people embrace the homeless men and women as they came through. They were so open and loving towards every person who came through the food line. Even though it can be difficult and uncomfortable, particularly the first time, they were champs and kept giving and giving.
We had one man entertain the group with some fantastic magic tricks. He—in all honesty—made a card disappear and reappear before my very eyes!
That's a TV station that came out to capture the event!
Larry thanked everyone for coming . . .
. . . and Larry and Blue played a little football!
All in all, the day could not have gone better.
