Meet the Need #5: Zoila

July 10, 2014 Elisabeth Jordan

Zoila and me a few weeks ago after our Bible study!

Zoila* is a beautiful little lady with kind eyes and a sweet smile. She was new to the shelter just about six weeks ago now. Since the first day I met her she has never missed our little Thursday morning Bible study.

Zoila's first language is Spanish, so between us exists a bit of a language barrier. Even though I studied Spanish in college, communicating has proven a little bit difficult, especially when trying to fully understand her story. (I am a bit rusty :).)

Zoila loves to work. She has worked in the Park Cities/Preston Hollow area of Dallas caring for children, as a nanny, on two different extended occasions. Her first place of employment lasted seven years, and she left this place of employment because the family moved to a new city. A few years ago, she left her second place of employment, where she also lived (as a live-in nanny), because the children were enrolled in school full time and no longer needed the care.

She could not find new, permanent work after that (ended in 2011), even though she has two references from her last two places of employment. The reason she is just now homeless is that she was finding part-time work and could live with a friend in her friend's home. Recently, however, this friend went through a divorce, so she does not have the space for Zoila anymore.

To say Zoila is kind-hearted is an understatement. She is so tender, gentle, loving, caring, calm, and compassionate. I think you can tell just from the pictures!

I post her need to see if anyone who reads this blog might be in need of, or know someone in need of, a nanny or cook or housekeeper. Zoila has told me multiple times that she will do anything. I have much more information on her, as well as her references. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about this wonderful lady, please email me at elisabeth19@gmail.com.

THANK YOU!!!
