{Video} Cecilia & Raymond: Part 1

October 2, 2014 Elisabeth Jordan

Cecilia

This is Cecilia. She and her husband Raymond are homeless -- they live under the bridge. Cecilia shared the poem below with me. She was thrilled when I asked if I could record it and share it with you.

There is more to their story, and we will share it in our next post. But for now, be encouraged by this poem Cecilia wrote called Surrender.

My life's been upside down long enough

Can't nobody change it but me

My sins have had me blinded for too long

But there's something my God wants me to see

See I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired

What I'm going through can't last for long

It's time for me to step back out on my faith

And get back to God and just be strong

See the Devil's trying to take me away

He's trying every trick in the book

But God made me do a double take

Turn around and take a second look

Sometimes I don't know which way to go

But I do know right from wrong

And I know if I pray to my Heavenly Father

He won't leave me in darkness for too long

Sometimes I feel like giving up

But God said, "Don't give up this fight

Cause joy comes in the morning my child"

So I fear not the night

Today I took a long look around me

And life much too precious I found

I'm fixin' to fall back down on my bended knees

And ask God to put me back up on solid ground
