As some of you know, on Saturday, June 21, we will wash the feet of the homeless in South Dallas.
We're calling the day "4Feet" -- here's why:
There are two feet being washed and two feet doing the washing. Although the non-homeless are washing the feet of the homeless, we all have feet that get dirty, and we all need them cleaned. Even as we serve those that are homeless by washing their feet, they serve us by opening themselves up to such an intimate, personal experience.

The white-haired man with a small limp approached the Corner. He had come so far. The first day I met him he had been laid out on the brown dirt by the big tree, detoxing from a chemical addiction. He seemed almost half-human that day, but now here he was, completely coherent and all smiles. Now, he imparted joy to me just by his presence.

The idea of washing another person’s feet has always been abhorrent to me. The idea of having my own feet washed just a little less abhorrent (mostly because I’m not the one doing the touching of feet).
So you can imagine my own surprise to tell that we are planning to wash the feet of some homeless men and women on Saturday, June 21. By some, I mean whomever comes – be it one person or one hundred.
